Standards of Care
According to the National Institute for Early Education Research, children who attend preschool have "increased academic achievement and school success, and improvements in social-emotional development behavior and conduct." Discovery Days not only exceeds state-mandated guidelines, but we also strive to create a preschool that sets a new standard for learning.
Discovery Days staff are members of the National Association for the Education of Young Children's (NAEYC) national and local affiliate ECA of Sarasota. Discovery Days have been nationally accredited by both the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) and the National Association of Child Care Professionals (NACCP) and has held Florida's Gold Seal of Excellence Award. Discovery Days is also a designated Eco-Healthy Child Care Center that ensures childcare settings are as happy, healthy, safe, and "green" as possible by reducing children's exposure to toxins.
Teachers and staff are required to participate in annual workshops, continuing education courses, and state conferences. All are trained in areas of health and safety, child growth and development, appropriate activities, and behavioral management. Every employee must complete a rigorous pre-employment screening process, including background check, education, and experience verification.
